       In this book “Maximum Ride: The Angel Experiment,” by James Patterson the main character is a 14 year old girl named Maximum Ride. She's a leader to her flock, and she teaches her siblings (not her real blood) to help them survive. Max and her 3 brothers and 2 sisters are incredible kids with the ability to fly and are gifted with other supernatural powers. Max and the kids were created in a science lab called "The School" where the evil scientists are called "Whitecoats". Max being the oldest was left in charge when their former guardian Jeb took off without notice. One morning when they’re all picking strawberries Erasers (wolf-men from the science lab used as guards), kidnapped Angel their youngest sibling being 6 years-old. Now they’re on the hunt to find their little sister following Max’s commands. Through the twists and turns Patterson really has you in for the ride. 

     To begin with, I would recommend this book because it teaches responsibility while still being entertaining. For example, it teaches how to step up to bullies and protect yourselves and others. In the beginning of chapter 21 Max saw a teenage girl named Ella get bullied by two boys with guns. She immediately stopped and helped the girl escape while fighting the two guys. Realistically, this teaches whenever you see students get bullied or harassed in school help them out or report to the nearest adult (teacher). Since this is a Sci-fi novel there is violence but in real life there shouldn't be.

      In addition, I would also recommend this book because it teaches how to love and care for others and it also shows the true meaning of friendship. For example, when Max leaves her younger siblings behind to go rescue Angel it shows the sacrifices she had to make to bring Angel back. Also, when Max was injured and alone she was almost dying but she was still thinking of her siblings and and that show she really cares about them. She specifically said "-if i'm gone at least they have Fang take care of them," (Fang is second oldest in the flock).

     In conclusion, I highly recommend this book because it has everything an average middle school-er looks for in a book. It's adventurous, scary, and even funny. And i'm pretty sure this quote will get you interested ...   “Can you giggle while racing for your life and protecting a six-year-old? I can.”
